BUFF ORPINGTON
William Cook crossed Minorcas, Langshans, and Plymouth Rocks in 1886 to produce the first Black Orpington, a novel hybrid bird. Cook chose a black bird because it would show off beautifully by disguising the grime and smog of London. [7]: 158 The breed's popularity increased after it was displayed in Madison Square Gardens in 1895. Cook produced the Orpington Duck as well.
Black, white, buff, blue, and splash are the original colour choices. [Reference needed] Even though there are other other varieties accepted around the globe, the American Standard only accepts the original color's, with buff being the most popular. German Hermann Kuhn created a Bantam variant around the start of the 20th century. Despite being smaller, the Bantam keeps the appearance of the full-sized bird. Black, blue laced, white, buff, red, buff black laced, barred, buff Columbian, and birchen are just a few of the many color's available in the Bantam variant. The Bantam breed rarely or never flies and retains the amiable disposition of the Standard species.

For Orpingtons, there are two comparable but dissimilar criteria. The first, which is issued by the Poultry Club of Great Britain, specifies a weight range for cocks of 3.60 to 4.55 kg and hens of 2.70 to 3.60 kg. Additionally, they request a heavy, broad body with a low stance, fluffed-out feathers that give it a huge appearance, and legs that are mostly covered with body down. Their Orpingtons also have a small head with a medium single comb and a curved shape with a short back and U-shaped underline.
