  • GIBBONS
There are 12 species of gibbons that are still alive, and their hues range from cream to brown, grey, and black. In several species, the color of the males and females differs according to sex. Some animals' young have a distinct color from the adults.

The four subgenera that the species fall under are Nomascus, Symphalangus, Hoolock, and Hylobates.

  1. Nomascus,

2.  Symphalangus,

3.
Hoolock

4.
Hylobates
Gibbons are arboreal mammals that are native to the endangered rain forests of Southeast, South, and East Asia. They are also among the best acrobats in the world. They can swing between trees at speeds up to 35 mph, covering distances of 50 feet while 200 feet above the earth. Brachiating is the term for this type of movement in which an animal swings under a branch while suspended by its hands. Their voices may be heard up to two kilometres away through the thick rainforest canopy, making them the most melodic land mammal.

Siamangs are roughly 10 kg in weight and between 74 and 89 cm tall, making them slightly bigger than other gibbons. Except for a few whitish hairs on the chin and around the lips, all adults—males, females, and babies—have a long, shaggy black coat covering their entire body. In the genital area, males have a tuft of hair that is somewhat lengthy. Siamangs have a neck sac that they expand while shouting, which is greyish or pinkish in colour. In comparison to white-cheeked individuals, their limbs and legs are even longer, and their hands and feet are wider. The arm span can be up to 2.5 times the body's length. Between their second and third toes, there is a thin webbing.

Gorilla
Gorillas of several subspecies can be found throughout western Africa. The western lowland gorilla, sometimes known as the "gorilla gorilla," can be found in low-lying areas of Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Gabon, the Congo, and Equatorial Guinea. Eastern Zaire is home to the eastern lowland gorilla, G. graueri. The mountain gorilla, G. beringei, can be found in Uganda, Rwanda, and Zaire at elevations between 5,400 and 12,440 feet.

Gorillas are gregarious but reserved creatures that are awake during the day (they are diurnal). They live in tiny groups of six to seven people, which may include a silverback (adult male), a few females, and the young of those females.

Africa is home to gorillas, which are huge, peaceful, and gentle apes. They have a huge head that has a protruding crest on top. Male gorillas are significantly bigger and heavier than females. Male adult gorillas can weigh up to 180 kg, and they are known as silverbacks after reaching the age of 12 or so when a saddle-shaped patch of silver hair appears on their backs. Gorillas are mostly herbivores and consume mainly plant matter. During the day, they scavenge for food in the trees. They consume flowers, leaves, fruit, seeds, bark from trees, plant bulbs, and fragile plant shoots. Gorillas build a "nest" out of leaves and branches each evening where they will curl up and spend the night.

Orang-utan
Only the island of Borneo, excluding the southeast of Borneo, is currently home to Bornean orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus). Up until recently, Pongo pygmaeus was thought to be the sole species of orangutan. The Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii) is now thought to be a distinct species.

It is sexually dimorphic in orangutans. Males weigh between 50 and 90 kg, and females weigh between 30 and 50 kg. The distance between the limbs and torso is around 2.2 metres, while the head and body are about 1.5 meters long. They have a reddish brown, thin, and shaggy coat. Males typically have a big goitre consisting of subcutaneous fat deposits that are bound by connective tissue.

Large social groups do not form among orangutans. Most people travel alone or in small groups that typically include two females, their dependent young, and sporadically an adult man. Males and females typically only interact with one another during mating and do not socialize outside of that. Males typically have home ranges of 2 to 6 square kilometer's, which overlap those of numerous females but not those of other males.

Fruits dominate the diet, particularly figs. They will also consume other plant materials like leaves, bark, buds, and flowers. They also consume insects, dirt that is rich in minerals, and sometimes eggs and tiny vertebrates.

Chimpanzee
(Pan troglodytes), which can be found in Sierra Leone, the Congo, Uganda, Tanzania, and Zaire.

Only located in South Congo, the BONOBO or dwarf chimpanzee (Pan paniscus) is.

They stand 5 feet tall, are black or dark brown in color, and have equal-length limbs and legs. The bonobo is darker in color and one-third the size of a typical chimpanzee. In 7-8 years, sexual maturity is attained. They are noisy, very playful brachiators who swing from tree branches. They shout, leap, thud the ground, throw stones and sticks, and otherwise defend themselves. Omnivorous chimpanzees occasionally hunt little monkeys and share their flesh. They have a 365 cc cranium.
